His models, sometimes minors, balanced in challenging poses and with an erotic immediacy on the edge of pornography.
In the 1910s this was unthinkable and at the age of 22 he was arrested for his masterful drawings. As part of his artistic masterpieces, he drew self-portraits with an emotional subtlety of drama alienated in dark thoughts.
